FAQ's

What fluid do you use in an ultrasonic cleaner?

We recommend using a specific ultrasonic cleaner fluid when cleaning items in an ultrasonic cleaner. UltraMax MED is a highly concentrated, economical formula which is not only antibacterial but is a specially formulated ultrasonic cleaning fluid. It’s low foam formula ensures the efficiency of your parts cleaner is not compromised. UltraMax MED is safe for use on all metals, glad, ceramics, plastics, nylons, and rubbers. This is suitable for most component cleaning and degreasing tasks found in medical and dental practices, laboratories, food processing, servicing, and re-manufacturing sectors. This is used to remove oils, greases, light inks, dyes, foods, fats, blood, and other unwanted organic residues.

What not to put in an ultrasonic cleaner?

When it comes to using an ultrasonic cleaner, it’s important to ensure that you’re using suitable products that are safe for use in an ultrasonic cleaner and for other cleaning operations. UltraMax MED has an odourless and non-tainting food safe formula. It is specifically formulated for the removal of light soiling found in medical establishments, food processing areas and laboratories. It is designed to deliver the best quality cleaning leaving you with hygienically clean glassware, medical instruments, and hard surfaces. UltraMax MED is versatile so it can also be used as a general hard surface antibacterial cleaner, reducing overheads and storage space requirements.

Can you run an ultrasonic cleaner without fluid?

Without at least water in the tank of an ultrasonic cleaner, there is very little point in using it. If there is no water in the tank and the cleaner is switched on, the transducer burn out will be almost immediate, leaving you with a useless piece of machinery. A detergent must be used in conjunction with ultrasonic cleaning to effectively remove most soils.

UltraMax MED ultrasonic cleaner and degreaser has been specifically designed to be used in an ultrasonic parts cleaner and can also be used as a hard surface cleaner to remove, light oils and greasy residues, blood and other organic residues, food and fatty residues, inks, and dyes. Our highly concentrated antibacterial cleaner is economical in use since it lasts longer than standard products, meaning you will have to reorder less frequently than inferior quality products.

How often do you change ultrasonic cleaner fluid?

When it comes to changing your ultrasonic cleaning fluid, we recommend changing it when it becomes visibly too contaminated, or when the cleaning process is not as effective. UltraMax MED is a versatile, multi-use cleaner and degreaser that can be diluted in the ultrasonic bath 1-2% (1 or 2 parts UltraMax MED to 100 parts water) and leave to work using 2-to-8-minute cycles. If being heated, temperatures up to 40 degrees centigrade are optimal.

When it comes to dilution rates, depending on the type of cleaning required and the amount of soiling on the objects then the dilution rate can be changed. We have different recommendations on our product bottles to give you more information when your product arrives, that will suit your needs.

What can I use instead of ultrasonic cleaning fluid?

It’s important to always use the right products in your ultrasonic cleaning tank to ensure that soils are removed from your components and parts in the safest and most effective way, not damaging the materials and saving you both time in cleaning and money. APT have been manufacturing and supplying a range of ultrasonic cleaning fluids for over 30 years and are experts in the field. The most important thing to remember when purchasing an ultrasonic cleaner is to ensure that they have been specifically made to be used in ultrasonic cleaning baths.
