Why Choose an Acidic Degreaser & Limescale Remover Like Phos?
Phos is a concentrated acidic descaler and degreaser formulated to rapidly break down limescale, rust, oxidation, and mineral deposits from metal and hard surfaces. Powered by phosphoric acid, Phos offers a safer, more surface-compatible solution than harsher hydrochloric-based products, especially when working with stainless steel, ceramics, or industrial metals.
This acidic degreaser & limescale remover is trusted in commercial kitchens, food production, HVAC systems, water lines, heat exchangers, boiler rooms, and plant maintenance operations. It restores efficiency by removing blockages and deposits - saving on maintenance costs and reducing downtime.
Safe, High-Performance Descaling for Industrial & Food-Safe Environments
Phos is ideal for use in:
• Commercial kitchens & food production facilities (non-contact surfaces)
• Boilers, tanks, cooling systems, and heat exchangers
• Pipework, HVAC coils, and water treatment systems
• Manufacturing plants and engineering workshops
• Washrooms, urinals, and shower units with hard water build-up
It’s biodegradable, non-corrosive when diluted, and safe for use on stainless steel, copper, aluminium, and ceramics. Phos is also suitable for environments that require compliance with food safety and hygiene standards - when used as directed and rinsed properly.

1️⃣ Dilute 1:50 with water for general cleaning or light-scale removal.
2️⃣ For heavy-duty descaling, increase concentration up to 1:10.
3️⃣ Soak equipment in the solution or spray directly onto affected areas such as HVAC coils, stainless steel surfaces, or pipework.
4️⃣ Allow 1–2 minutes dwell time for the solution to break down scale, rust, or oxidation.
5️⃣ Agitate if necessary using a brush or cloth.
6️⃣ Rinse thoroughly with plenty of clean water to remove all residue.
How do you use Phos limescale remover?
Phos is a concentrated acidic cleaner that is typically diluted with water depending on the level of scale or contamination. The solution can be applied to surfaces, circulated through systems, or used in soak tanks for components. After the deposits have dissolved, the area should be thoroughly rinsed with clean water to remove residues and restore the surface.
What surfaces can Phos be used on?
Phos is suitable for many hard surfaces including stainless steel, copper, aluminium, ceramics, and industrial metals when used correctly. It is commonly applied to pipework, tanks, HVAC coils, and processing equipment. The formulation is designed to remove scale and oxidation while remaining compatible with common materials used in industrial and commercial systems.
Where is Phos commonly used?
Phos is widely used in commercial kitchens, food production facilities, boiler rooms, plant maintenance operations, and HVAC systems. It is effective for descaling pipework, cooling systems, heat exchangers, and water lines where mineral deposits reduce efficiency. Many facilities teams use it as part of routine maintenance to prevent scale build-up and equipment failure.
Is Phos suitable for food-processing environments?
Yes, Phos is suitable for use in food-related environments when used correctly and rinsed thoroughly after application. Its phosphoric acid formulation is biodegradable and commonly used on non-food-contact surfaces in commercial kitchens and processing plants. This makes it useful for maintaining equipment and surfaces where hygiene and operational efficiency are important.
What is the best limescale remover for stainless steel?
Hard water deposits and mineral scale can quickly build up on stainless steel equipment and pipework. A phosphoric acid-based descaler such as Phos is designed to dissolve limescale, rust, and oxidation without damaging compatible metal surfaces. It is widely used in commercial kitchens, plant rooms, and industrial systems where stainless steel equipment must remain clean and efficient.
How do you remove heavy limescale from pipes?
Heavy limescale inside pipework or water systems is usually removed using an acidic descaler that dissolves mineral deposits. Phos works by breaking down scale and oxidation so it can be flushed away easily. This helps restore proper water flow and system efficiency in boilers, heat exchangers, and pipework used in industrial and commercial facilities.
How do professionals descale industrial equipment?
Professional maintenance teams typically use concentrated acid descalers designed for industrial systems. Products like Phos are diluted and circulated or applied to affected surfaces to dissolve scale, rust, and mineral build-up. This approach is commonly used in plant maintenance, HVAC systems, and food production facilities where deposits can reduce efficiency and cause equipment downtime.
What removes rust and scale from metal surfaces?
Rust, oxidation, and mineral scale can be removed using a phosphoric acid cleaner designed for metal surfaces. Phos is formulated to dissolve these deposits quickly while remaining safer for stainless steel and industrial metals than harsher acids. It restores surfaces and equipment by removing the contamination that causes corrosion and reduced performance.
Impressive limescale cleaner.

As discussed with the customer service team at APT, our boarding school is located in a hard water area so we struggle with lots of hardened limescale build-up around the shower cubicles. They recommend we try Phos Clean and sent us a sample. We have consistently reordered this product every month. It really does what it says on the tin! Thanks to the APT team for another great suggestion.

I am a cleaner have have recently begun cleaning houses in a hard water area, I was finding limescale to be the bane of my life! I’ve tried loads of different products and nothing works like Phos Clean. This limescale cleaner works on the toilet bowls, showers, sinks and baths. It worked really quickly. We have tried many products to remove encrusted limescale from the bottom of our school toilet bowls, nothing has worked. The products I’ve tried either chip the limescale or don’t remove it at all. We have had this problem at the school for years. I was sceptical of this product, but I decided to try it anyway. I poured Phos Clean into the toilet bowl as per the directions. When I flushed the water, I was amazed to see that all of the hard-to-remove limescale had dissolved away. This product is absolutely fantastic. It’s the only product we have found that can remove encrusted limescale from our toilet bowl.
